Wildlife Tracks & Sign

  • Swan Valley Connections 6887 Montana 83 Condon, MT, 59826 United States (map)

$100 per person
Limited to 12 participants

Learn how to read tracks and sign to determine the movements and behaviors of animals in the Swan Valley and beyond. We’ll start with an informational lecture and overview of techniques before class. Our day in the field together will be spent putting those techniques into practice with education director Sara Lamar, who’s certified through CyberTracker North America.

You will become familiar with gait patterns and how to measure the stride (length) and straddle (width) between tracks. Hone your eyes to subtle clues with the help of experienced guides. This area contains the full suite of North American carnivores from wolves to lynx to wolverines. Rich in wildlife, the Swan Valley is an incredible location to spend the day tracking.

Snowshoes available for those who need them.
